Ingredients

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder or 1-inch fresh turmeric root finely grated
  • ½ tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cups water
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey or pure maple syrup
  • A small pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • A splash of milk or ¼ tsp coconut oil/ghee

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Fine grater (if using fresh turmeric/ginger)
  • Measuring spoons
  • Mug or teacup
  • Spoon for stirring

Method

Step 1: Gently Simmer The Spices
  1. Pour water into a small saucepan and add turmeric, freshly grated ginger, cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper. Bring it just to a light boil, and then lower the heat. Let everything simmer softly for 6–8minutes so the flavors can fully blend.
Step 2: Strain And Add Your Extras
  1. Remove the saucepan from the heat. If you used fresh turmeric or ginger root, strain the tea into your favorite cup. Stir in a squeeze of lemon juice and a little honey or maple syrup to taste. For a creamier finish, add a splash of milk or a small spoonful of coconut oil or ghee.
Step 3: Enjoy It Warm
  1. Pour into mugs and drink while it’s still warm. If you like, dust a tiny pinch of cinnamon on top for a cozy aroma and extra flavor.
