  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable or canola oil
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Method
 

Step 1:
  1. Heat the vegetable oil and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the butter is fully melted and combined with the oil.
Step 2:
  1. Add the ketchup, white vinegar, lemon juice, water, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, sugar, smoked paprika, black pepper, chili powder, salt, and Tabasco sauce. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
Step 3:
  1. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
Step 4:
  1. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the BBQ sauce to cool for 10–15 minutes. Transfer to a clean airtight jar or container. Refrigerate until ready to use.
