Step 1
- Add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, clover honey, and brown sugar to a medium saucepan. Set it over medium heat and whisk until the sugar begins to dissolve into the mixture.
Step 2
- Add the minced garlic, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together until the spices are evenly mixed throughout the sauce.
Step 3
- Let the sauce come to a gentle simmer, then lower the heat. Cook it uncovered for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring from time to time to keep the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 4
- Continue cooking until the sauce looks smooth, shiny, and slightly thick. The sauce will become a little thicker as it cools. Taste it and add more cayenne pepper, salt, or black pepper if needed.
Step 5
- Take the pan off the heat and allow the sauce to cool for a few minutes. Pour it into a clean glass gjar and store it in the refrigerator. Serve it as a BBQ glaze, dipping sauce, or topping for grilled chicken, ribs, burgers, and other grilled dishes.
