Costa Rican Tea Recipe

We love this Costa Rican Tea Recipe because it brings together vibrant tropical flavors and soothing herbs in a single cup. The combination of lemongrass, ginger, cinnamon, and Lemon Verbena creates a fragrant, refreshing aroma, while fresh pineapple adds a natural sweetness that balances the subtle tang of lime.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 stalk fresh lemongrass chopped
  • 1- inch piece fresh ginger thinly sliced
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves
  • ½ tablespoon fresh turmeric or ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • cup pineapple chopped
  • 1 Lemon Verbena tea bag
  • 3 –4 tablespoons Costa Rican honey
  • 1 –2 teaspoons honey or sugar
  • Ice cubes for cold serving

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Strainer or tea infuser
  • Teacups or glasses
  • Spoon for stirring

Method

Step 1: Make The Herbal Base
  1. Pour 2 cups of water into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil. Add the chopped lemongrass, sliced ginger, cinnamon stick, fresh turmeric, mint leaves, and pineapple pieces. Turn the heat down and let it simmer for 5–7 minutes so all the flavors blend together.
Step 2: Add Tea And Sweeten
  1. Take the pan off the heat. Drop in the Lemon Verbena tea bag and let it steep for 3–5 minutes. Stir in the lime juice and 3–4 tablespoons of honey, adjusting to your taste. Remove the tea bag and strain the liquid into cups.
Step 3: Enjoy Hot Or Cold
  1. If you want it hot, serve right away. For iced tea, let it cool a bit, then pour over a glass full of ice cubes. Add a sprig of mint or a pineapple slice for a pretty touch.
