- Add the water, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, black peppercorns, allspice, star anise, and nutmeg to a medium saucepan. Bring everything to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 5–7 minutes so the spices can release their flavor. Add the tea bags and simmer for another 2 minutes.
Step 2
- Pour in the whole milk and stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar. Heat gently for 2–3 minutes, stirring from time to time, until the chai is hot but not boiling. Taste and add more sugar if you like it sweeter. Remove from the heat, strain into cups, and enjoy while hot.
