Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water 240 g
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger 2 g
  • 2 to 3 cardamom pods crushed, 1 g
  • 1 small cinnamon stick or ΒΌ teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 g
  • 4 whole cloves 0.5 g
  • 1 to 2 fresh tulsi leaves 0.5 g
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper 0.2 g
  • 1 teaspoon honey or Sucanat 7 g

Method
 

Step 1
  1. Add the water, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, tulsi leaves, and black pepper to a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and simmer for about 8 minutes so the flavors can infuse.
Step 2
  1. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the tea sit for 1 to 2 minutes. Strain it into a cup through a fine mesh strainer, pressing the spices gently with a spoon to get the remaining flavor into the tea.
Step 3
  1. Let the tea cool slightly, then stir in the honey or Sucanat until fully dissolved. Taste and add a little more sweetener if needed. Serve warm while the tea is still fresh and flavorful.
